Short Fiction

I love to write. In school, we wrote in the style of mass media quite a bit. Fiction is an escape from that for me.

This story won a Beloved or Bloody Valentine contest in 2015.

I love Cormac McCarthy novels, so I thought I'd try to write a story in his style. They never turn out quite the same, but I thought the minimalist approach to punctuation, especially when it came to quotation marks in this piece, really added to the tension.

Stories like this just sort of spill out. This came in 3rd in a Horror contest around Halloween of 2014 in my college's creative writing magazine.
